Shipping & Returns


Shipping

Items being shipped will be shipped via the method chosen by the customer upon checkout. Add 1-2 business days for your order to be processed. Package tracking information, if provided by the shipping company, will be provided via the email address on record.
Depending on the shipping method used, most shipments take 4-6 business days to deliver in the Continental United States, but it may take longer. If an order hasn't been received after 10 business days, please contact Big Byte Computers.


Returns

New computer systems can be returned within 14 days of the date received. A restocking fee of 20% will apply to returns of pre-configured Big Byte systems.
Used or Refurbished computer systems can be returned within 14 days of the date received. A 10% restocking fee will apply to returns of all used computer systems.
New computer components can be returned within 14 days of the date received. A 20% restocking fee will apply to all new component returns.
Used or Refurbished computer components can be returned within 7 days of the date received. A 10% restocking fee will apply to all used component returns.
New software can be returned within 14 days of the date received. New software must be returned unopened. Opened software is non-refundable. A 10% restocking fee will apply to all new software returns.
Used software cannot be returned, and is non-refundable.
Labor performed on any computer or component is non-refundable.


This is the return policy for items purchased online. Items purchased in-store may have different terms. See the return policy paper in-store for details.


The buyer is responsible to cover all return shipping costs. Big Byte Computers will not refund any shipping costs of returned items.


Warranties

New computer systems include a 1 year (365 day) hardware warranty and a 60 day software warranty.
Used or refurbished computer systems include a 90 day hardware warranty and a 30 day software warranty.
New computer components include a 90 day warranty. There are exceptions to the standard warranty, as follows:
- New Laptop Power Adapters carry a 1 year (365 day) warranty.
- New Laptop Batteries carry a 6 month (180 day) warranty.
- Computer motherboards carry a 60 day warranty. Additional warranty coverage is done through the manufacturer only.
- Computer monitors carry a 60 day warranty. Additional warranty coverage is done through the manufacturer.
Used or refurbished computer components carry a 30 day warranty.
Computer repair labor is covered for 30 days from the repair date.


Computer Hardware Warranty Details
If a piece of hardware within the new or used computer is found to be defective, Big Byte Computers will repair or replace that part within the system's warranty period. The replaced part may be new or used, of equal or greater performance of the original part. After repairs are complete, the system will still retain its original warranty period. The warranty will not be extended or renewed unless stated by Big Byte Computers.

The computer's hardware warranty is void if Big Byte Computers determines the computer to have been damaged due to misuse, neglect, physical abuse, dropping, spilled liquids, overheating, or overclocking.

In addition, hardware warranties on new and used computers does not cover the following:
- Cracked, worn, bent, dented, or abused casing or plastics.
- Cracked, scratched, or dented screens
- Loose, broken, or damaged hinges
- Loose or broken power jacks
- Missing, broken, or worn keyboard keys
- Broken or damaged ports (such as USB, PS/2, VGA ports, etc.)
- Damage to internal components caused by dropping, damage, or abuse
- Damage of any components caused by excessive dust, dirt, or tobacco build-up
- Damage of any components caused by spilled liquids
- Damage of any components caused by customer-installed hardware or installation of hardware


Computer Component Warranty Details
If an individual component, part, or accessory purchased is found to be defective, Big Byte Computers will repair or replace it within its in-store warranty period. The replaced part may be new or used, of equal or greater performance of the original part. After repairs are complete, the system will still retain its original warranty period. The warranty will not be extended or renewed unless stated by Big Byte Computers.


Computer Software Warranty Details
If the software within the new or used computer is found to be causing software-related problems to the system, Big Byte Computers will perform the necessary labor to solve the specific problem, within the software warranty period.

Software warranties on new and used computers does not cover the following:
- Virus, spyware, malware, or any other type of malicious infection
- Damage to programs, operating system, or devices caused by any above infection
- Problems caused by the installation of an application, driver, or hardware by the customer


Labor Warranty Details
If work was completed on a computer system that did not solve the original problem stated on the Repair Ticket when the computer was brought in for repair, Big Byte Computers will solve the issue at no cost. The labor warranty does not cover additional parts that may need purchased to solve the problem. The labor warranty does not cover problems with the computer that are not stated on the original Repair Ticket.

Warranties on software labor is void if any of the following are found:
- Any included virus or spyware protection software is disabled, turned off, or more than 7 days out of date.
- Any file-sharing software have been installed (such as LimeWire, Kazaa, BearShare, RapidShare, or any BitTorrent application)
- Viruses, spyware, malware, or other malicious code infected the computer*

* If the original computer repair involved a virus/spyware removal, the software warranty only covers removal of the same virus, spyware, or malicious code.

Additional Warranty Information
If a part, component, product, or accessory fails during the warranty period, and if there is no replacement available of the purchased part, Big Byte Computers will provide a refund in the form of store credit only.

Repair or replacement time of a warranty product may vary, depending on the manufacturer of the product and their warranty policies. Please expect 1-6 weeks for replacement of a warranty product. Replacement times can sometimes take longer. Big Byte Computers is not responsible for replacement times of a product under warranty.
